Subject: Need Help on U.S Visa
  Hi Friends,
I have been in canada for last one year and I am a permanent resident over here.My company wants to send me to u.s for training but they have no idea how to get visa for permanent residents.I need to be in u.s by 29th of Aug,and I have heard one cant get an appointment before 2 months. So,can someone please tell me what would be the best approach and which way it would be cheaper for the company-if i apply for a travel/visitor visa or a business visa. Please help asap.
Thanks
mick

You have to apply for B1/B2 visa , it?s a visitor as well as business visa.

It might take about 2 months to get an appointment though , maybe less, but I don?t think would get it in about 3 weeks.
Once you get an appointment at the U.S Embassy in charge of your location , it?s very straight forward procedure , most of the time the U.S embassy will process your visa the same day.

You should get a letter singned by your employer saying the reason and time of your visit in the U.S , the time you have been working for the company and some other usefull info to prove that you have "ties" to go back to Canada at the end of your visit.

You can book that appointment and keep on checking if any appointment slot gets free.Usually it happens and you can always modify your appointment(Through TTS services).

One of my friend experienced the same..Though that was in india but I believe procedure should be same everywhere.

Thanks Rahul,
That is a really good suggestion..but you know thats not 100% reliable. And,If I say to my managers that I would be there on the 29th of August, and they schedule everything out there for me..and then incase I dont get an appointment..they would shoot me off buddy...rite.
Any other concrete suggestions???
Thanks
Mick
