Hi every one, I just started reading valuable questiion and answers from this site and felt very happy.
I have a question:
I completed my 6years h1B stay in USA, then I moved to Canada two months back on work-permit visa, now I want to apply for PR in Cannada, can I apply now ? or I have to live in Canada for about a year to apply for PR? Please suggest.....
(One of the wewbsite was saying that we have to apply PR from home country(in my case India) other site was saying we can apply from any country if we are a current resident of that country living more than one year...)
I was staying in Canada for last two months, before that I was in USA for 6 years, how can I apply and where can I apply PR in my case...please suggest.

If you have been admitted into Canada for more than a year you can apply from Canada. The application of people who live in Canada is processed in Buffalo, USA so you will be sending your application to Buffalo.

Yes, Kenny is right. You have to be in Canada for a year before u can apply for PR. I have also read somewhere on the forum that your permit needs to be valid for one more year at the time of applying for PR.

You misunderstood me Michelle. I said that an applicant has to be "admitted" into Canada for a period of more than a year to be able to apply from Canada.
So Vardha check your passport - if the Canadian immigration official has given you more than one year of stay in Canada then you can send your application to Buffalo, USA as soon as it is ready.

Thanks for the replies,
I came/signed in to Canada on May-05-2005.
I can stay until Dec-31-2006.
I am in Canada for last two months, and I can stay here for next 17months.
Can I apply PR any time now ?
OR
I have to complete one year stay in Canada to apply for PR, that is (MAy-5-2006) in my case.

I don´t think that you need to stay here for 1 year before applying for PR.
I had applied to Buffalo office in feb and at that I had completed 6 months in Canada on work-permit.
I got AOR in March.

Hello my name chauhan Ajay (27years old), I work in Taiwan since 2001 , I have to apply for Canadian PR , my qualification is Bachelor of commerce from Gujarat university, India. I have a six years experiences in Daimond filed as a branch officer in Taipei Taiwan.
