| Subject: Visa must be used before medical expires? |

Hi again,
I am trying to clarify something that the Singapore office had mentioned in their letter for PP request.
They state that the "Visas can only be issued to a maximum validity of 12 months from the date of the medical examination".
We had preformed the medical Oct 2004. Does this mean that the visa my wife is issued will be good until Oct 2005 and that she must land before that time???

Yes, she has to land before that time.

As a figured out after reading this forum, it really depends what will be written in papers sent by CIC. My medicals expires at the beginning of September, for example. But one person said, that she got the passport request several days after his/her medical expiration day, with something said about the expansion (6 month or so) of the possibility to cross the border without second medical examination. or something like that. Just wait and we´ll see. If there will be some new on my part, i´ll keep you posted.

We dont have the visa yet..just the PP request letter. I seems like a "form letter" so that is why I am trying to clarify. There is no exact date...just mention that the visa is valid up to 12 months after medicals.
Unfortunately it will be impossible for her to land before that time....is it worth faxing the office to ask for an extension on the medicals? Has anyone successfully done this before?

I think, you should try to extend this period, may be send a fax with explanations of delay. And may be consult with a lawyer to be sure. It´s rather important issue.

I think I will send a fax with an explanation for delay and pray that they will extend the time limit. I also saw the previous post of someone where the medicals had expired, yet were still able to be issued a visa without a second round. It seems to be the discretion of the particular officer handling the case.
Ill keep you posted.
