Subject: include W-2s in application?
  Hi folks:
Hopefully THIS is my last question before submitting my application!

Several former employers cannot verify my previous employment due to them not keeping records for over 7 or so years (standard in the US). I do have letters from all except from 3 employers who have since gone out of business. I wrote up short statements about each job and why I can´t provide evidence (out of business); would you all recommend that I include W-2 statements verifying, if not dates exactly, that I was at least employed for some time at the businesses I am claiming? Or is this overkill?

Thanks for your input!

It couldn´t hurt, but it may be overkill. Gosh, I just submitted my application and I don´t have letters from my employers from when I was in college for similar reasons. I would mostly worry about your current employer. This, of course, is my opinion. It seems the conern is more about language, funds, and ability to find work, not so much all of your past employers.

Yos MUST submit photocopies of your W-2 statements as this is a very cruicial evidence to prove your employment.

Your work history must to be documented conclusively as it is the most important part of the application.

I agree. If you have no other proof, W-2 forms are your only real thing. COPY THEM ALL! And if I was you, I would even notarize the copies (now, this may be overkill, but....i would do that anyway). Dont forget, more is better (unless it is total junk, then it´s a different story)

wannabecanadian, are you in the countdown mode yet? how many hours:minutes:seconds:miliseconds until the mailing your 20 kilograms of application stuff? :-)

Yep, Cool25, you bet I am! I was up for hours last night, writing last minute checklists to myself. I´m so paranoid I´ll forget something obvious, like the payment (I did that with our fingerprints, and had to interrupt my two year old´s nap to run down to the post office so I could add a check! ugghhhh....). We are hoping today is the day, but probably Monday. Are you ready to go when you get your FBI stuff?

Yes wannabecanadian, if I get my FBI beginning of next week (told them August 1st is my deadline), then the same day I get it my packet goes out by FedEx. What do you use for mailing? A small box? Envelope? I got my papers sorted into 3 report/presentation clip binders: app. docs, bank, criminal, passport, etc; work related; and education related. Looks impresive (they must give me 10 points just for that, lol). So, I may need that FedEx box that they have. I think this should be ok.
Last night I went to Kinko´s (don´t wanna do it at work for obvious reasons) and copied all papers so I have duplicates just in case. I created an excel sheet and noted all documents that im sending there, if notarized, if color or b&w copy, etc etc. Just to have it for later (a year from now I won´t remember, right?). Man, i think your nerves are getting to me. Now I am like sitting on needles. Looking for something to do with this thing, hahaha. Even if it is just re-reading it from beginning to the end.
I also typed a few pages (each page attached to a different set of docs) of explanation things, like why this is like that and that is like that. Kinda like, if they have ANY question, the answer is right there. Just wanna avoid any possibility of delays. I tried to put my self into shoes of someone who deson´t really care and has not much time to figure things out. I even put a little table together stating my years of education, credits, how it would translate to 15 credit hours weeks, and came up with the number of years based on that. You know what I mean?

Hey Cool25-Wow! You gave me lots of great ideas for presentation! I think, though, that it´s specified in the instructions to send your app. in an envelope. A BIG one, I guess! :)

hey cool25 and wannabecanadian... you deserve your PR just on the merits of all your application efforts. Well done. I think you have the right attitude when you put yourself in the shoes of someone who does not want to take a lot of time to figure out what you are trying to tell them. The more clear everything is - the better.

Makes sure you have copies of everything and once you have your AOR, make a copy and put it somewhere other than at your house. maybe a safety deposit box so that if anything bad happens... you have your immigration information.

i have a weird feeling that sharon is just taking us for a ride because we are so paranoid, lol. and sharon is right!
sharon, send me your address, your home keys, and the pin to your home alarm. i will store my AOR at your place :-)
Hey, guys, it´s cool that you have a sense of humor. we really need it at this crazy time of waiting for ever.
But....when I think about it....it does fit my suspicious nature...I will actually put a copy of my AOR somewhere (besides sharon´s house, talking of a second copy, lol)
