Subject: No business cards nor official seal from HR
  Hi folks!
Quick question... My HR sent me a letter of my status with my company in USA; it is nicely done on company´s letterhead and signed by an HR employee. However, it is not stamped with any seal nor is there a business card attached. Is it ok if I don´t have these? With the HR´ current status, I also have a notarized copy of my employment offer (when I started) and a few other papers. Do you think they will care if there is no business card nor seal?
What else can I add to make my case stronger in the employment area?

P.S. I never saw any official seal of my company, and it is one that employs over 200,000 people.

I´m in the same situation as same and also hoping someone will give me some answer and help.

By the way, what do you mean by notarized copy? It´s just a regular copy of the employment contract?

I sure think you should comply with the business card request. The whole seal thing is pretty weird to me. Where the signor was a notary, I had them imprint it with their notary seal, but otherwise I just did without and it does not seem to have been a problem for me to this point.

Seals seem pretty archaic. Is there someone in Canada who can shed a bit more light on the subject?

Notarized copy means that a notary verfied that the copy is true with the original. You NEVER send any copy of any document that is not notarized. They may say (for no reason) that you changed something, like with a white out, or whatever. If you make a copy, put a notary seal on it. If you send originals (like IELTS or background checks), then no notary is needed since it is original.

I´m sorry, but i still don´t get it.

So say for instance, i cannot just photocopy my employment contract and send it along with the application, is that what you mean? If so, so how can i put a notary seal on my employment contract?

Other question i have is does the reference letters have to have all the job position, duties, salary and such? Or as long as either the employment contracts or reference letters have is ok?

I think i now know what you mean by notary seal! However, i did 2 part-time jobs at university and asked them for any business card and seal. Their answer is all no. So what can i do at this point?

Hi young,

What I did with mine was I brought photocopies and original to my bank manager, he certified my photocopy and then put a seal on it.

I also did not submit business card...at this point no problem so far...except that I didn´t get a waiver of interview....no idea if that is the reason....still waiting for my caips. goodluck

I had the same problem but in my case... my supervisor did not have the business card at all...

So I asked him to put his info on the employment letter. I made him write his designation, contact informaiton, address and all the stuff needed so that if CIC wanted to ehck with them they could do it.

Also I wrote a letter along with the employment letter explaining that the supervisor was not issued any business cards. I specified his contact information and designation and all that stuff on my letter.

And guess what... I got my visas stamped and now I am a PR... so it worked for me... I hope it works for you too...
