Hi there, My timeline.
Applied--June 04
AOR----July 04
IA ---April 05
Medicals---June 05
Documents ---June 05
Consulate---Buffalo
Student in Canada. Interview waived.
Can I order for the CAIPS to find out whether background check is going on for me? Is this the right time to order CAIPS?
If I fax them, I feel that it will make the process even more slow, what do you feel? Is that true?

1. Can be obtained from CIC office in Ottawa (not Buffalo).
2. You may send them a fax and no need to send the cheque or money order as long as you live legally in Canada. Just make sure to fax a copy of your legal permit along with your official request.
3. At this stage it´s pointless to order CAIPS!

1) Can you please get me the CIC office address in Ottawa.
2) Fax is to Ottawa to request CAIPS or asking for the status of my application? Is CAIPS free for applicants living in Canada.
3) When should I order CAIPS then?

1. http://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/tbsf-fsct/350-57_e.asp
Fill in the form, sign and then fax it along with your legal permit to the fax number given in the above address.
2. Obtain CAIPS from Ottawa. Yes, CAIPS is free for people who live legally in Canada.
3. After medicals you have to wait for at lease 3-4 months. If nothing happened, then try ordering CAIPS.

Hi Anonymous, Thanks very much for the repsonse. I appreciate it.
My medicals reached Ottawa only in the third week of June though I did my medicals in the third week of May. So is it 3 months from June 3rd week?
If I send CAIPS, will it make the process a bit slow?
