Dear Experts/Friends
I have got engaged recently. I am a software engineer and my fiance is also a Software Engineer.
In my Application for Canada Immigration, is it recommended to update my Engagement Ceremony Status? Will this kind of updation affect my Application for Canada Immigartion in a positive way? Is it advisable to update my Engagement Ceremony or is it harmful?

You are not required to inform them unless you get married.
Where have you applied from? When did you apply? At what stage is your application currently?
I will recommend that you get married before your process of immigration is complete. This way both of you can go to Canada together.
Once your case is approved and you get the visa you can NOT get married. You will have to go to Canada first to land as a PR and then come back to your home country to get married. In this case you will have to return to Canada alone after marriage and then sponsor your spouse which can take a long time depending on the country of residence.

Kenny you are wrong... It says in the application as well as the AOR that if your status changes after application you are obliged to update the application...
Munira, you should update CIC with your application...
I´d defenetly agree on the point Kenny made about getting married before you get the IA so that both of you can immigrate togather... Atleast get the registered marriage done...

Getting engaged means nothing. Unless you get married it will be useless to inform CIC.
There is no harm in informing them but like I said it is completely useless. The reason is that getting engaged has no impact on your application. You can not include your fianc? to your immigration application. Where as if you get married or have a kid you MUST inform them as a spouse or child has to be included in the application (either a accompanying or non-accompanying) and have to go through medical and background checks.
