For your information, you do not have to worry for the arrival of your spouse in Canada. Everything usually goes very well.

My spouse arrived with me in Vancouver. When she passed the immigration, she said that she wanted to land. She was asked to go to another room. There, they checked all her immigration papers and her visa. They asked her address in Canada to send her permanent resident card. She gave a picture for the PRC. And that was it. They were very nice and friendly. It takes only a few minutes (if there is nobody in front of you).

Then you go to the baggage claim and you pass the customs, as everybody. And there you are in Canada, a permanent resident.

So don´t worry.

Good luck and keep me informed.

The thing is she has to go through all that alone while I wait outside impatiently waiting. Not what I was planning on but the circumstances panned out this way. I wonder if immigration at the airport allows me to help her out.

I do not think that you will be allowed in the immigration room. But you can ask if you phone CIC in Canada.

Nevertheless, don´t worry. They are very nice and are used to meet people from other countries: this is their job. If she speaks a little bit of English or French, everything will be simple. If not, there may be some officer who can translate. In Vancouver, they are used to meeting Chinese people. Anyway, she will know what to do. She only has to show her immigration paper. And believe me, half of the plane will be full of Chinese people. So somebody will help her if it is needed.

Keep me informed how it will be. By the way, when will she arrive? My wife is very happy in Canada. She is now learning the language. I am sure it will be the same with your wife.

Good luck.

I have a question for you.
I know there is a question that the official will ask, how much money you bring with you? In your wife´s case, does she bring money with her or your bank statement will do the job? Thanks

Sky,

I don´t think family class immigrants need to bring money. They have been sponsored by someone who has agreed to be finacially responsible for them for 3 to 10 years, and the sponsor either has to pass income criteria, or at least answer questions about their income.

Of course, if you applying under skilled worker, they would require you bring enough money to support yourself, as there is no Canadian who has agreed to do if for you, and the government does not want to be obligated to support you either.

To Skyprince,

My wife needed no money at all because I sponsored her. I am responsible for her for the next 3 years.

yes.
The goods come in duty and tax free, but must be declared.
Fill out a B4 and B4(a) http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4-eng.pdf for all goods that come in one time duty and tax free for any landed immigrants.
All goods must be declared, but can come at a later date if they were declared on thsw B4/B4A on the initial "landing" (becoming a PR)
