Subject: About IELTS
  Hi
I am masters student,I applied for my immigration in sept 2004, recieved AOR on Jan 7th 2005,I happen to recieve letter recently from immigration officer asking for IELTS exam (to prove my english profeciency) dated Jun 20th,2005.
I have been trying to find seat for the exam and it seems all the exam centres have been filled up.
Immigration officer has given me 120 days before which i have to submit my IELTS score, I was wondering if its ok if i send an explanation about my english profeciency (letters from supervisor and graduate secretary)so as to avoid delay in file processing time.Is there any chance he can reject based on it.
I have applied for CAIPS notes and yet to recieve.
Feedback and suggestions are welcome
Thanks in advance

Hi Prabhu. What proof of English Proficiency did you send CIC with your initial application? I´m just curious since I did not do IELTS but I sent in letters from myself, work, Uni (using Canadian Language Benchmarks) and also proof like essays, notes written during class, minutes of meetings I attended and stuff like that. Just curious as to what you sent in and why they require you to do IELTS. Any help will be appreciated.

I guess it really depends on the officer I guess. Well, my first recommendation is to go do your IELTS as soon as possible - wherever you can get a seat. If you absolutely cannot get a seat, then maybe you could send a letter explaining this to CIC along with proof like letters (using the Canadian Language Benchmarks), essays, theises, lecture notes, presentations etc. etc. that you might have done in school and at work. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi Prabhu,

The immigration official has already looked at the evidence you provided and I doubt that s/he will reconsider. The best option is to go ahead and appear in IELTS.

You can write a letter to Buffalo if you are having a problem getting a seat for IELTS. They are flexible with the deadline as long as you inform them.

To my knowledge you can still get a seat in Vancouver BC test centre.
