Subject: evidence of language proficiency!
Hi All, I am planning to submit my application under federal skilled class worker and am not sure if I should take the IELTS exam or give a written submission.

Just to give you guys a little background to assist me better. I have been educated in English since the age of 12 in Australia, I did my high school(until from Year 8 to 12) and university (Computer Systems Engineer, 4 Years)there, I have also served in part time Australian Army for two and half years. I have been working full time in Australia in IT field for many different companies (including some multinationals institutions) for more than 7 years. Currently I am working in UK - LONDON as an Oracle Architect, managing Design and Development. I am not sure where to start with written submission.

Can someone please guide me with some suggestion? Any sample letter would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Best regards
Sri

Hi Sri... listen... I think you are going to apply using the simplified way... just sending in your application and later send the required documents?...

Well... some may not agree with me, but I think someone with your background education and work experience should be able to apply without having to take the IELST... (unless CIC makes it compulsory of course)...

To prove your language proficiency CIC tells you in the application kit that you have two choices... you could take the test or write a letter explaining why you should be exempt from having to take the test and claiming the level of English you think you have (fluent in your case)...

You could write a nice letter telling CIC about your education and work experience... attach to it all your degrees including High School and University and any work reference letters you have from previous and current employers (you need to send these things with your application anyways but it will be nice to attach them to the letter to prove you English proficiency).

I really believe that IOs have common sense and that with the proper documentation you will be able to prove to them your language proficiency... if after a while CIC says they were not satisfied with that letter and asks you to take the IELST instead... then you just take the test... it will delay your application few weeks until you are able to book the test and send the results in... that´s it...

Now, if you are short of points and do not want to risk it... then you can take the test to make sure you are awarded all 16 language points!

Your choice ...

I did not take the IELST... I wrote a letter... it seems to have worked... I had medicals done... I am waiting for a final answer...

Good luck to you!
