Subject: IELTS Requirement
  Hi all,

I applied for immigration on sept 22nd 2004
Recieved my AOR on Jan7th 2005
I got request for IELTS on June 24th 2005.
(Immigration Officer has given me 120 days to submit my IELTS score)
I took TOEFL scored (250/300) before coming to ottawa to do my Masters.Sent documents and letters to prove my proficiency in English.
Does anybody with the same case?
These days is IELTS mandatory.
Looking for IELTS centres, is 2 weeks enough for preperation.
Thanks in advance for suggestions and feedback.

While 2 weeks might be sufficient for someone who already has experienced TOEFL, it is not necessary that you´ll be able to book a seat in 2 weeks. most of the times, you need to apply atleast a month before the test date.
get yourself familiarised with the format...

Toefl Rating (in reply to: IELTS Requirement)

I am an associate member of Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria that has a B.Sc Combined (Hons) in Statistics/Economics and a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from University of Nigeria, Nsukka and University of Ado Ekiti,Ado Ekiti in Nigeria respectively. I have over twelve years post graduate experience cutting across academics and various areas of finance of a multinational whose activities span over seventy countries of the world. I sat for TOEFL exam when I was applying for a P.hd program in the United State of America sometimes.I applied for Canadian Immigration. The immigration officer is demanding for IELTS. The question I want to ask you is this" Does that means that I can not use my TOEFL score and the fact that I have had all my training and working experience in a country whose official language is English Language ! The time limit giving to me to submit this IELTS test is 60 days. Booking for IELTS takes a minimum of 45 days and getting the result from the examination body takes about 21 days (three weeks) considering the time limit can´t I use my toefl score and my experience over these years in an English speaking country! Your quick response will be highly appreciated.

I am assuming you have already sent them your TOFEL results and they are asking for IELTS, is that correct? If so, you need to sent in the IELTS results. If you need more time, write to them.

If you havent sent them TOFEL results, why not? Maybe you should do that and ask if they will accept that along with your reasons why your English should be considered at an acceptable level.

However, keep in mind that they prefer IELTS over other testing methods. Also, the test must be taken within the last 12 months and should be General version (not the academic version). If you dont send them IELTS, you are asking the officer to make a determination based on the documents you sent. The officer may give you less points. IELTS results on the other hand will allow you to get points based on what band you get in the test.
