Thank you for an enlighting reply, however I have a few comments:

1- I am not whining, I am just trying to share my experience with other forum members as well as some observations that might help others.
2- ?Ph.D from USA doesnt mean a squat in canada as its a different country from US?
Last time I checked, engineering was a universal science, thank you for the information that Canada has its own version of engineering.
3- ?There are lot of these state univs in US where people get in with poor academic records and making high GRE scores. So that doesnt mean they have graduated form good schools.?
Thank you for the hindsight that I have a degree from a low level educational institute. This is exactly what I was referring to in my previous post regarding the ready made clich? that most probably immigrants have lower level education and experience than Canadian born.
4- ?If you are good enough you would have found a job in USA and possibly green card over time irrespective of all the problem the middle east guys are having.?.
You are assuming that I did find a job !!!!!!!! Sorry to burst your bubble, but I chose to turn down US employment and probably a US green card because of the anti-international sentiments currently in the US. If you feel that such situation is not compelling enough to leave the US, I advise investing a little bit more time reading everyday newspapers.
5- ?I hate people who bitch about the country which gave them oppurtunity to have a decent to good life through immigration. There are problems everywhere and one has to learn to tackle , rather than bitching day in and day out.?
I suggest you find some kind of cure for your ?hate? problem. Hate is not a good sentiment and is rarely justified. I agree that every place has its own set of problems, however just contending that it is OK to have problems is really pathetic. This attitude is exactly the reason why problems in Canada take longer time to be solved.
6- ?You are desperate to land as immigrant in canada?
I am sorry to say this is correct for me as well as many other immigrants. International economical and political situation forces a lot of people to choose the lesser of two evils. If that was not the case Canada would have had real hard time fulfilling its yearly quota of immigrants.

Wow... real simple decent and to the point.
I really love Canada. I will make it home for me and my family. Although there is always the possibility that one might meet some unfriendly characters, I live with the hope that they might choose to leave and make Canada an even nicer place.

I empathize with people (immigrants) who have high education and are doing jobs not worthy of their education in Canada. I have said this before, Canada should be consistent with its policies. If you recognize foreign degree and/or experience to be considered for skilled immigration, you MUST honor that after the immigrant lands in Canada. The better scenario is to NOT allow those skilled immigrants into Canada at all in the first place, do a favor to both yourself and the immigrants. Now this will solve the issue of the complaints from immigrants not satisfied with their jobs (underemployed) or who are unemployed.

I do see a minor complication of this situation though, for example immigrants like "New Immigrant" who is in Canada because of issues that he is having with his country or life back home, such people are able to come into Canada thru´ the skilled category. I feel that the "skilled" category in their case does not do justice to anyone. They would have no reason to complain, as they came here not to find better employment, but a better life than what they were living before. It is now upto them to make the decision if life is indeed better here in Canada, or they have to resign to their fate and hope their kids have a brighter future in Canada. Some may choose to go back or whatever, but its their decision.

Someone has said "If Canada is that bad, why are so many people immigrating to Canada, there has to be a reason." Similarly, if so many new immigrants are complaining about their dis-satisfaction, there has to be some truth to it."

Hey Raj, I do feel that you are close to the crux of the topic. Stimulating....

1. As you rightly said, Canada has its own merits and demerits. Every one of us agree. The logic is, some find too many mertis, some find lesser. The IGNORED TRUTH IS THAT EVEN IF IT HAS LESSER MERITS (positives), it is still better than USA or China or India or Pakistan or Europe.
Problems typical to USA are not seen in Canada, problems typical to China are not seen in Canada, problems typical to India are not seen in Canada, problems typical to Europe are not seen in Canada, problems typical to Australia are not seen in Canada, problems typical to Middle east Asia (gulf) are not seen in Canada. These problems are largely personal and partly due to the system.

Does Canada now make a better candidate, atleast in a selfish perspective?? This is the real truth. But MOST people can´t call a spade a spade, instead they say, we would like to contribute to Canada´s growth. When you hardly match skills Vs opportunities I doubt the valuable contribution. Sorry dudes, I know its hard to take.

So the answer to your first query "If Canada is that bad, why are so many people immigrating to Canada, there has to be a reason" hopefully is answered here.

2. Now, the second. As you see, skilled worker category applicants are not meant to fill all skilled jobs in Canada. The applicants are CONSIDERED skilled (based on logical evaluation) in their respective or NOC-listed professions. That does not mean there exists vacancy for that skill. It probably means that there will be a likely opportunity for tha particular skill(s) that needs to be capitalised or utilized. So, there will be people who DO NOT or CANNOT match the opportunities Vs skills at some point of time. These may be due to their GOOD or BAD credentials (academic/ scholastic), attitude, personality, perspective, and mental pre-disposition. Could be some or all. These mismatches are the ones what we see in the forum posts. I may land in Canada soon, and after giving the job market a try, I think I may be able (or may not be able) to match skills Vs opportunities. If it matches, Canada is heaven. If it does not, blame it on CIC, Canada or racist employers. Easy right??

Don´t you think the same applies to USA/Germany/Australia/ Switzerland/Singapore? I guess so and that is what I hear from my international friends. So why cribb about Canada?? Something I do not really really understand.

Did the Government commit to providing employment?? They provided statistics and data (secondary); able people interpret and manage it. Less able get stuck. This has nothing to do with Ph.D or MBA or a diploma or high school. It is just the ability to match skills Vs opportunities. So I disagree with people who complain though the truth could be "new immigrants do not EASILY find jobs or the jobs they like". This will never end as long as suitable matches are unavailable be it a low or high profile job. So in response to your second thinker, "If so many new immigrants are complaining about their dis-satisfaction, there has to be some truth to it." I hope this is the truth.

These are my personal views. I may be wrong at some aspects, and some or many may agree/disagree. But my honest and personal views. Apologies for being impolite at time. Thanks guys for the valuable posts.

My reply: ok out of 60,000 or so who immigrate every year less than few complain.Thiough i do agree with most of your post.
The reason why people immigrate and complain is simple. Again this is my guess and opinion. Most people do not know that its very expensive to live in big cities and they somehow assume that since they have experience in their own country they can get a job for 50,000 $/year in less than a year and so they can somehow manage. But what they do not realise is it doesnt happen in a year becos most of them are from crappy schools in their country (except few)and they do not have experience here in canada also. This is a inherent fault in canadian system.some when they apply for immigration from their native countries they just want to get away from their misery they are undergoing, whatever it is.Once they land here their thought process changes and they expect more. If what they expect doesnt happen, people get frustrated and upset.
If somebody comes into this country with a open mind without expecting much and willing to work in whatever job he gets for an year or so and then attend school and upgrade himself, iam sure they will land up with a decent job in a year or so.
the basic problem with the people is that they do not want to spend a single dollar in this new country and still get a job in no time. That happens in US and doesnt happen honestly in canada. So its difficult for people who have that mindset when they land in canada( and most immigrants have that mindset). But then again canada also lets you in even if you have a degree from "ABC" uiniversity from any country, so one has to go through this.there is no choice.
Thanks.
