Hi there I am marrying a Canadian some time next year, I´m British and we are planning on living in Canada however we may decide to live in Britain as the immigration process is much quicker in cases like ours. As soon as we are married we want to be living together and both working, its not realistic for me not to work for a year as it would drive me crazy and put undue stress on our relationship. We are discussing what type of visa to apply, we possibly qualify for common law as we did live together for one year exactly however that was six months ago and we did not combine our finances and filled seperate tax rturns so we are on rather dodgy territory. Another option is the conjugal relationship application but will they reject us as we have lived together for a year and my fiancee can go to the uk on an ancestral visa? Also if that application is not fully processed by the time we get married would it then be rejected and we would have to start all over again? Another option would be to wait untill we are married and then apply as a married couple however I would not be allowed to work unless you are able to work on a tempoary basis while your appplication is being processed? Thanks for any advice.

i would say get married, apply from london. your sponsor should present proof that s/he intends to live permanently in canada like showing some documents of job offer, bank loans, properties, acceptance to a school, etc. it´s safer to do this route rather than filing as a conjugal because in conjugal you really have to present a lot of documents to prove that there is a hindrance to get married.
