Subject: Information on Abbotsford, BC Canada
  Hello

We are landing in Vancouver Jul 8th. We have seen some good real estate buys and a sort of excitment going on in Abbotsford, BC in the Fraser Valley.

We are looking for a place to settle and wonder about Abbotsford or living in Vancouver, i.e., Richmind, Burnaby, NewWest.

Any comments, suggestions.

This is a same question when I have my trip in Abbotsford. I stayed there for a night. Oh, that??s a wonderful place, beautiful town not too big and not too small.
I talked to several chicks working in the info centre. The question is people similar just don??t want to spend more than 1 hour on the highway. If traffic jam, even worse.
House is much cheaper than Burnaby, Richmond, and Vancouver. If you can find a job here,. Why not?

By the way, chicks are so nice here. I talked to folks work in the info centre, When she knew that I am driving 33 feet truck by myself thru all info centre in B.C and not even have somebody eat dinner with me. She asked me if I want to have dinner together and go to watch movie? Yep, that??s Abbotsford. Nice people!!!! I only knew that chick for 10 min!!!!!

By the way, I am in Revelstoke right now, House is way cheaper here than Nanaimo, Victoria. Snow mountain, bears at night , great dam. The thing is absolutely no night life after 5:00pm, same as Kamloops.

I can??t imagine once I go to Houston or Clearwater. What gonna happen

please excuse my intrusive question but if you are a straight couple... Abbotsford would be a very agreeable place to live. It is one of the more conservative communities in the region. If that is not the case, I think you might feel more comfortable in the other 3. I live in Richmond. Large Asian population, good transit to downtown, there is a good chance or working and living in your community. My least favorite option would be New Westminster.

Oh thank you very much, Sharon!

We are a gay couple, and some of the web info on Abbotsford suggested that it might be a little homophobic. My partner is Thai, so maybe Richmond is better. What do you know about Burnaby and Surrey? I was looking at Stevenson????

Too bad cause we thought Abbotsford might be THE place.

Ur response and time are appreciated.

If I could choose anywhere in Richmond, I would pick Steveston - it is a little more expensive than your other suggestions but well worth it in terms of quality of life.

Abbotsford is not the place to raise kids either, prison is close by, lots of drugs, lots of problems for a seemingly religious place!!! It´s a rough place and caters to low income people. What about Coquitlam? Langley?

Anon, if you had said you were talking about New West, I would not be surprised. Abby??? Langley is kinda nice. not the best transit. Same with Coquitlam.

Regarding Coquitlamd, Sharon... are you saying that it, too, has poor transit?

there is the coast mountain express but if you end up working right downtown...you are looking at a 45+ minute commute. there is not a lot of feeder transit to the main transit lines.
