Hi guys.
I applied as SW in nov 2001. Got an interview waiver in nov 2003. went for a medical in nov 2004. Today i got a letter(06/03) stating that " we received the medical results for you and your spouse. Currently,your file is still being processed for background check". Since every thing is fine with our medical reults, can anybody tell me that usually how long background check takes? I had given the landing fee and FBI fingerprinting in nov 2003. Please share ur experience with me. Thanx KK

No fixed time. May take upto a year or even more. Depends how many countries you were a resident of.
In similar bost - got a letter for BG Check in process states can take upto 9months

spike me .well, last year they told me the same thing. after I applied for canadian immg. i have been to one country for a while.YOU SAID IT CAN TAKE UPTO YEAR YEAR, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MEDICALS.I HAVE DONE MY MEDICALS AND THEY ARE ONLY VALID FOR A YEAR.???? THEY ISSUE VISA STARTING FROM THE MEDICALS DATE AND VALID EXACTLY FOR ONE YR. NEED UR SUGEGSTION AGAIN THANKS KK

Dude that is worrying most of us.
My medicals still have 5 months left, but I got a fax last month (when I asked for status) stating BG check in process and it may take 6-9 months.
That puts me in a situation where I´d have to take medicals again if they insist as they have asked people to re-take medicals.
Unfortunately, if you have got info from them that BG check is in process I´d suggest not to bother them anymore or write to them anymore. This is a process that will take it´s own course and will not change for anyone.
So in my view just wait and watch.

I have done medical already 2 times. dont wanna go for the 3rd man. any ways, spike, thanks for sharing ur experience. kk
