Subject: Family Sponsorship
I have a permanent resident visa in Canada and I plan to sponsor my husband and 3 kids under the family sponsorship program. In sponsoring I must sign an undertaking with the CIC promising to provide financial support for their basic needs like food, shelter, clothing, and other basic requirements for everyday living. Dental care and eye care are also included. The undertaking ensures that my family members do not have to apply for social assistance. Does this mean that I cannot apply for Child Tax Benefit, Medical Coverage, etc.? What is social assistance in Canada? Your help are greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

when they say financial support, they are referring to as welfare and not those child tax benefit, etc.
