| Subject: landing funds |
we are a family of 3 and would like to ask if it;s okay to bring our settlement funds in US dollars cash. i know that you have to declare amounts exceeding CDN$10,000. will this be a problem? thanks.

To have it in Cash OK, to have it in US$ OK also, But the problem will be that you can not exceed the CAN$ 10,000. You either carry traveller cheques, bank draft, or open a bank account in Canada and transfer the funds to there prior to your landing.

I thought it would be ok if we just bring the funds in cash. anyway, i´m gonna send you an email and ask about the procedure on how we can open an account with RBC prior to landing. is it safe? will they require a deposit of some kind? what kind of account did you open? thanks a lot!

atm, may I ask your nationality? The cap or amount of how much you can bring depends on the country´s regulation.
