Please I really need your advice about these cities..which is the better place to settle? How about the cost of living, rentals, taxes, job opportunities, education, etc..

Calgary would probably be the better choice for a new resident. The economy is booming, the city is bigger, and the weather is nicer (so I hear).
You asked about taxes..Alberta has no provincial sales tax. Standard (and cost) of living is probably higher, due to the booming economy.

Canadians fondly call Winnipeg, Winterpeg. Ask a Canadian the answer would be Calgary - no hesitation.
