| Subject: applying for PR thru mexico |

I am an indian citizen and am here on a study permit. I want to apply for PR in Canada. I don;t want to go through buffalo though and have heard that you can also apply thru mexico and the time it takes is almost half of that from the USa. Can someone tell me if its true? If it is true how do i go about it.

That´s correct. but you have to move there.
it takes only 4-7 month.

So if I am already in canada (as I am) I can´t apply through any other country except USA .. is that right? Do you know how long it takes for the application to process before I get my PR. I have only been in Canada for 4 months and want to know if I can apply for PR right now or do I have to wait for a year before I can apply for PR?
Please help I am confused.

To find out the answer to the same question I decided to fax the Mexico city office last week and they haven´t replied back yet. I have an Indian passport with a temporary work permit (Expiry Apr 2007) in Halifax & even have a canadian girlfriend for almost 5 years. The only thing is I am not in a rush to marry yet cuz I am just 23 started a full time job recently after graduation. We won´t qualify for common law partner yet as we have lived together only for 9 out of 12 months. I guess my other question is if I should apply right away as a Federal skilled worker or as a common law partner
