Subject: Grounds for Rejection
I have a friend who has applied for permanent residency with his family, and the process is going well.I wanted to know under what grounds can they reject his application?I mean he swindled a alot of money from his previous place of work, but that was after he made the application and hence his police report and clearance is clean.Anyway can he get a refusal now? (he´s waiting for his call) or anyother way the application can fail? He´s being sponsored by a relative already in canada.

I think he should be fine , his application could be refuse if he didn`t say the truth in his application , or any problem about his health.

If all that is ok , his application should go through.

Cheers

I am not sure if he is fine...

during the course of his Immigration process, CIC can ask for new documents from his employer, and he must also undergo a new round of police and background checks at the end of his process that he cannot control (they are done by Canada). The offence may or may not come to light.

Not sure if Canada really wants him after his current behaviour!

It is one thing to swindle and entirely another to be CONVICTED of the same in which case this info will enter the criminal violations record and hence his police report is likely to reflect it. If the whole episode happened in a third world country or Eastern Europe, he could possibly buy out the cops and get a clean report even for subsequent verification. However, he may not be able to control any info that CIC security check might unearth. Anyways, he needs to play cool until everything completes and long after, since a PR can be retroacively revoked for providing false info. There might be a way out of such situation provided the candidate does not himself incrimininate. Sometimes, ppl may think they outsmarted the system and brag about it and can thus bring their own demise. Let him brung that swindled stash to Canada and do good business here.
