Subject: IA processing
I had a question, I applied in Oct 2004 and got my AOR in Feb 05. My AOR states that files recieved 36 weeks ago are being assessed, so will they count my application received date in Oct 04 or AOR date in Feb 05 for the 36 weeks starting period?

Also do they just create a file# as soon as they send out AOR and they dont touch it at all until 36 weeks? or do they keep processing our application step by step after AOR??? Does anybody have any comments or experiences please share.

The day Buffalo received your documents is the most important day. If they see all required documents and money order, they give you a file number. AOR is just a confirmation of it. In my case, as I posted a couple of days before, they opened my file in Sep 04 and sent AOR in Jan 05. They enclosed the receipt dated Sep 04 with my file number. Given this fact, I believe that they take a look at all documents immediately when they receive them, then open your file, then send AOR, then do IA. In some situations there is a gap between File# and sending AOR (Sep-Dec 04).

You may not rely on 36 weeks as a predictor of your time line before IA. It is not reliable at all. You got your AOR with 36 weeks in Feb 05 while I got mine with 52 weeks in Jan 05. My understanding is that nobody touches your documents since receiving them. They are waiting IA based on the date Buffalo received them or opened the file. AOR as an indicator is saying nothing about your time line. That´s a way letting you know about your file number.

According to e-servise, they started processing my file in Jan 05. I can only speculate that Buffalo guys should process a certain number of files per year. When they are done with this number, based on their staff availability, they do whatever they want.

Looking at Yogi799, you may notice that in most cases 36 weeks is a real-life time between sending documents to Buffalo and receiving IA. The rest is unpredictable or unreliable.

AOR (in reply to: IA processing)
It´s pretty generic...

It only says .. that your application for permanent residence has been received by Regional Programme Center (RPC) and that a file has been created for you. Your file number appears above...

Your file has been placed in a queue awaiting assessment.

No number of weeks ..

in the Online Status .. it only says IN PROCESS ..
