On your original application you had to mark if you want an eventual interview to be in english or french.Si t´as indiquer fran?ais et tu ne compends riens du fran?ais, t´as une probl?me mon grand. On the other hand, if you indicated english as interview language, you´ll have it in english.

I passed successfully an interview in February with Immigration Quebec in New York. Where will be your interview?
By principle, all interviewers have different style in conducting their interviews, but I have to tell you one thing for sure- YOU HAVE TO BE PREPARED TO SPEAK IN FRENCH!
don´t forget that Quebec is a French-speaking province and they are really crazy about their language and culture. They just worry that if you don´t speak French, you may move to another province. Thus, they would lose an immigrant and they don´t want this.

My interview wasn´t long, about 13 minutes. But it was mainly in French. The interviewer was friendly. We started with the traditional greeting bonjour and then he asked me when I came to New York and how-by train, by plane. Then he asked me if I had found their office easily. Then he started with the real staff. Can I see your passport? Do you still live on this address? did you finish your Master´s degree? Then- what are you working now? Do you have friends or relatives in Quebec? How much money do you have on your bank account? Is it your money, or your parents´ or friends´ money? What did you work in your country? How long have you studied French? All these questions in French only. Then, he asked me in English- do you speak English. I answered- Yes, my English is good. I actually finished my M.A. in English. He asked me in English- do you have brothers and sisters? I said that I have a sister and he asked in english- where does she live?
then he switched back in French and he said- Well, Sir, considering your education, experience and excellent knowledge of French- YOU ARE ACCEPTED. He printed out my certificate of selection, signed it, then he gave me some instructions what documents to send to Buffalo and he wished me good luck. I was sooooo happy! :)))

Look, the most important thing at the interview, however, is to make a good impression with your French. Even if you know no more than 3 000 words, you have to act as if you are fluent. It is very important to understand completely all the questions and if you don´t feel very confident, just don´t use long phrases, give short answers. For example- did you study at University of Bologna before that?
Bad answer is: Yes. (This is too short)
Bad answer #2: Yes, I studied there Architecture the first term, but then I decided to move to Biolgy, because I didn´t like the curriculum very much in the architecture program. (such an answer is bad, because if you are not fluent in French, you´ll start to look for the words, to mutter, to make mistakes, and the interviewer will see that your French is not good enough)

Good answer- Yes, that´s right, I studied there. (not too short, but not too long to make a mistake :))

On the other hand, you have to know that living in Quebec without French is not easy. However, in Montreal is possible to work or study only in English.

So, good luck and if you have more questions, just ask, eh?!
