Subject: Visa for my wife

I am also gng to India on 2 months break and I wish her to apply to Canadian consualte in New Delhi. Can any one tell me what kind of visa I should apply for her to come with me? do I have to metnion her IT expereince and all?

I don´t want to spoil your day, but I think you might encounter some difficulties. If your wife was not on your original work permit application she is not ´entitled´ to accompany you. She must come with a vistors visa. To obtain a visitors visa, the applicant must convince Canada that she will return home to India at the end of her visit. Quitting her job was the absolute worst thing she could do in this circumstance.

The first question that must be answered is how you originally filled out your work permit application.

yes, that was my question. I do not believe she can change her mind about accompanying you mid permit. She would be only allowed to use the visitors visa route.

She is going to have to prove she is going home at the end of her visit. If there is any glimmer of doubt... your wife will be denied. It is not to your advantage that you will have just seen her and she has terminated her job.

you can go home to visit your wife without problem. Where the difficulty begins is that you can no longer use your long separation as a reason for CIC to issue you a visitors visa.

there is some good information on the CIC website about what is required to secure a visitors visa.

Thank you very much

Yes I have got allt he details for the visitors visa. But can you tell me any other source to prove that she will return to India. Because now that she is not in job, what else I can show them as proof that she will return to India.

Sorry to disturb you again

I just want to add and to agree with Sharon that quitting her job was the worst thing she could have done. You need to show she has ties to her country and will return. Money helps but is not a tie. Money can be easily transferred to Canada.
Car, homes, flats, JOBS, anything that is in the country that TIES her to it will help.

GOOD LUCK

I disagree with Sharon and Anonimis.

It is implicit that your wife would like to go wherever you go..it doesn´t sound logical to me that CIC would think that someone´s wife could simply ditch him after coming to Canada and start living illegally.

If that was not the case, then why would CIC give an option at the first place whether the applicant wants his wife to accompany him, in the initial application. What can change if the wife comes sooner or later?? Infact it shows that the couple doesn´t care about staying in Canada and is genuinely motivated now, otherwise they could have applied in the initial application itself.

I know of many cases where some guys called their wives while studying at the universities. Not only this CIC has permitted their wives to work without HRSDC requirement as they are dependents. Even after graduation the guys could not get a job but the wives are still working. How does that sound eh?

Talk to the CIC office and state your problem, they can guide you as to which application you/your wife needs to fill. Just follow the procedure and you´ll be fine. You are already contributing to the Canadian economy, why would you be denied the company of your wife.
