Subject: Living and working History
Does anyone know why they want to know where you have lived and worked over the past 10 years? I mean, I don´t rememeber the exact dates 5 years ago let alone 10 years ago. But I do remember where some of the places I may have worked then and also where I lived. Will this jeopordize my chances if I cannot provide the exact information? I wish I was perfect and had a perfect memory but I don´t. Also when they mean background check, what does that mean? I know what security check is, but not background. Thanks.

Unfortunately this is a critical component of your application. Remmember they are going to be taking someone for LIFE!! hence they need to be sure u are who u say u are and have done what u claim to enter Canada!!

So sit back, relax and dig out papers and remmember the date, time and place...

Are you for real, how do you know this stuff? How can it be critical? I would have thought the security/police check etc... would be more important. At least that is what the Canadian immigration officer made me believe. They don´t want to be letting criminals, terrorists into the country. And who on earth are they going to ask about where I have lived over the past 10 years? I have shacked up with people for short periods of time that not a soul knew about apart from the ppl i lived with. So how on earth are they going to confirm that? This is so frustrating, waiting on the process to finally be over.

You are right Mel/ Sacred there is no way CIC can confirm where you lived and for how long, leave apart looking "deep" into it. It doesn´t make any sense for them to know each day adress of you stay and neither have they any resources to check it. I guess they just do it to analyze the background of the applicant.

Just round-of the figures and fill in whatever you remember; you can play with the duration and adresses. Of course the facts should not contradict each other.
