Successful Interview - 13th April, 2005
received confirmation of Permanent Residence and Visa counterfoil in our passport - 13th April, 2005
Landed and became a permanent resident - 13th April, 2005

My husband and I drove from Toronto, to Detroit for the interview as we were on post-graduate work permits in Toronto at the time. We arrived at the interview at about 9:15a.m. as our interview time was suppose to be 9:30am. We handed our envelope in to the receptionist, with all the original documents requested. At about 10:45 we were called in by the immigration officer who was to decide our fate. She tried to make us relax by telling us that everything looked in order an she would need to ask me a few questions as I was the primary applicant. After answering maybe about 3 questions, she told us that we passed the interview. She told us that since our medicals were in, and all our background checks, we could come back at about 2:00pm. and she would issue us our Confirmation of Permanent Residence.
When we got back at 2:00pm. the receptionist gave us our confirmation of permanent residence, along with the Visa counterfoil in our passport. We then left Detroit, and when we arrived at Sarnia (Canada), we landed and became permanent residents. The officers there just directed us to fill out the paperwork so that our Permanent Residence Card could be mailed to us.
I´m still in a state of shock that it all happened in one day. I was so not expecting it!!! I can´t belive that I am finally a permanent resident. It´s such an exilerating feeling, that I can´t even begin to describe. I wish everyone the best of lucky, who are still waiting.

She just asked me to describe what I do at work. If I had any criminal record. Whether I have stayed in any country for more than 6 months other than my home country, and Canada. Whether I have been in any common law relationship or ever been married before, and that was it.

What is it and what did you have to do to get after you were confirmed as residents?
