Hi,
I am Chinese and want to apply for canadian PR. I live in New York right now. Can anyone tell me how I can obtain a police certfificate for the time I lived in China? Should I apply one via the Chinese Consulate in US or ask my parents in China to do it for me?
Help!
Thanks!
Will

(in reply to: Need advice from Chinese!) Have your parents help you with the China portion of police certificate. It should be pretty easy. What you are looking for is a Notarized Certificate of "No Criminal Offense" issued by a local notary agency (Gong Zheng Chu). Have your parent make an enquiry with the local notary agency on what to bring. I heard the requirements could vary slightly from place to place. In my case, my brother had to bring:
1) two passport-size photos of me,
2) a letter from the local police bureau (Pai Chu Suo) attesting that I had committed no criminal offence of any nature for the entire duration of living in China.
3) about RMB 700 (don´t remember the exact amount now)for the notary fee.
Relax. Don´t stress yourself out on this.

(in reply to: Need advice from Chinese!) You are welcome, Will. Living in a foreign country is already not easy. If we don´t even help out our own chinese brothers and sisters, who else can we count on? Good luck on your endeavor.
