Subject: Need advice from Chinese!
  Hi,
I am Chinese and want to apply for canadian PR. I live in New York right now. Can anyone tell me how I can obtain a police certfificate for the time I lived in China? Should I apply one via the Chinese Consulate in US or ask my parents in China to do it for me?
Help!
Thanks!
Will

Have your parents help you with the China portion of police certificate. It should be pretty easy. What you are looking for is a Notarized Certificate of "No Criminal Offense" issued by a local notary agency (Gong Zheng Chu). Have your parent make an enquiry with the local notary agency on what to bring. I heard the requirements could vary slightly from place to place. In my case, my brother had to bring:
1) two passport-size photos of me,
2) a letter from the local police bureau (Pai Chu Suo) attesting that I had committed no criminal offence of any nature for the entire duration of living in China.
3) about RMB 700 (don´t remember the exact amount now)for the notary fee.

Relax. Don´t stress yourself out on this.

You are welcome, Will. Living in a foreign country is already not easy. If we don´t even help out our own chinese brothers and sisters, who else can we count on? Good luck on your endeavor.
