| Subject: can I apply for both US & Canada perm residence? |

Dear all,
I live in the states and my employer is sponsoring my greencard. since my company is a small firm and may be acquired in the next a couple of years before I obtain the greencard. I am thinking to apply for the Canadian perm residence as a backup.
Is there anybody here who is in similar situation? Can I really apply for both at the same time? Will my application for canadian residence affect my greencard process? (by the way, my green card process is still in the labor cert stage and I have no idea when I am going to get it).

Take my advice: keep at your american application and leave Canada alone. Let people who genuinely want to immigrate to Canada have one more slot. You have a backup plan already: it is called your mother-land.

If anyone who is in the same situation and can give me some useful advice, I´d greatly appreciate it.
I don´t think I need to explain why I need a backup plan. but just FYI, the mother-land that someone just mentioned is a place I haven´t lived for 20 years.

Yes, you can apply for both . We did that . And you did not have any problem . And now a days it takes almost 1.5 years to complete all the process . So , don´t worry .
