Hi I was wondering if there was anyone that could help me. I am Canadian but my husband is Egyptian. I am on a tourist visa in Egypt and just had our baby girl by c-section in Egypt. I want to apply for her Canadian citizenship as soon as possible. Can someone advise me what forms I am supposed to fill out to the embassy? Thanks!

(in reply to: Im Canadian baby born outside of Canada) Canadians are citizens from birth by two means. First, birth to a Canadian parent (ius sanguinus). Second, birth on Canada´s soil (ius terris). Go to an embassy with the original birth certificate and ask there.

(in reply to: Im Canadian baby born outside of Canada) While the last poster is correct, you still must register to obtain Canadian Citizenship. Think of it like the right to vote. If you´re a citizen, you have the right to vote, but you can´t vote unless you have been lawfully registered. As a person born to a Canadian citizen, you have the right to citizenship, but you must first apply for, and obtain a "Registration Of Birth Abroad Certificate".
