minor complications wont hamper the chances! if there is a complication that would involve a further medical examination, then YES, there would be a delay; otherwise not.
and the background checks start after the successful interview or the interview waiver; along with the medical checks! they start together, but they are independent of each other....

With spousal sponsorship, the person being sponsored must undergo the immigration medical exam before submitting the Sponsorship/PR application is submitted. The medical practicioner who performs the exam sends the information they gather from the exam (i.e - the results of the physical, the blood-tests, the chest X-ray, etc) to Ottawa. The people in Ottawa go over the medical exam and then sends their results to the Visa Office processing the PR application. If additional tests need to be done the Visa Office will send the request to the applicant. If no futher tests are needed you don´t hear from them.

I don´t think that the Visa Offices put the applications on-hold until the medical results are received, since they atleast know the applicant has already undergone the exam. The only time they may put the application on hold is if additional medical tests need to be done. I mean, with my application the Buffalo RPC began processing it on October 5th...at that point in time e-client didn´t indicate whether or not they had received my medical results ("Medical Results Received" did not show up until end of Novemeber/early Decemeber....my passport request was sent out on December 22nd). So based on my experience, I believe that they were performing background checks even before they received my medical results because there is no way they could finish background checks in less then a month.

As far as interview requests/waivers and when they begin background checks for spousal sponsorship applications...not everyone receives interview requests or interview waivers. When Buffalo processed my PR application the only times I actually received anything from them was when they sent out the Acknowledgement of Receipt and Passport Request Letter. I never received an interview waiver letter. So it is very much likely you may not receive a letter if you are not required to attend an interview.

Hi Mel, your posting sounds very encouraging :) Just to amke things clear, are you saying that your application was processed within about 3 months?! They started processing my husband´s application on January 24 this year. When do you think we should expect PP request?
