Hi:
I want to apply to the self employed artist visa, I consulted with a Lawyer and the was positive about me meeting the criteria needed. To do all the papers and the application with her will cost me 7.000 CAD, and she gives no guarantee, only that she have never failed in one but i still have to pay all the money up front.
Should I do the application myself? how can she improve my chances?
Looking for advice !

Depends, if you can fill the application properly, you don´t need a person to do it for you.
Get references of successful applications that have been handled by this lawyer, then you make the call.

Hi DocD
Look the odds of a starving artist getting a work permit or permanent resident status is virtually nil. Even a visitor visa is unlikely unless the artist has travelled extensively.
Common sense.
You DocD should know better.

Roy, you are missing the question.
The question is if having a lawyer improves his/her chances.
Whether the visa application is approved or not, that is between him/her and the consular officer.
I love how you use the word "common sense". That being the least common of all senses.

I think you should be able to apply by yourself. Its not what you cannot do. I applied by myself for my husband and son and myself and were all successful.
