Subject: Questions
I´m preparing to return to the states in a few days and get back to work to help pay the spousal visa fees. I have a lot of questions I´d like to have answered if at all possible. Some info on me and my wife. I´m from Pennsylvania, and my wife is from Niagara Falls Ontario. She doesn´t make much money, and we have a baby on the way so I´m trying to immigrate as soon as I can to be with her, work, and try to help support our family. We plan on having her sponsor me. So here are my questions.

1) I know applying outland helps the process speed up, but how soon can I start working in Canada and living with my wife from the time I submit my application?

2) Can I apply for a work visa while also applying for spousal visa?

3) Where, how, and when can I apply for a work permit?

4) Is it possible to continue working (with an online work from home company) during my immigration process while im in Canada? or is this a bad idea?

5) If I apply inland how soon can I hope to be working?

6) Are there any companies that will hire Americans who have little experience in a trade. Like a manual labor worker?

We´re a bit scared about the whole process and with a baby on top of it all it´s just making things worse mentally for us.

1) Once your application has been approved and you have landed in Canada as a permanent resident.
2) If you qualify.
3) You first need to find an employer who can offer you a full time job. The employer then needs to obtain an approved LMIA unless your job falls under NAFTA. Getting an approved LMIA involves advertising the job for a month to prove no Canadian could be hired for the role, paying a $1K, and then waiting several months for the LMIA to be processed (these are all things your employer must do). If the LMIA is approved you can then get a work permit.
4) Only if you have no Canadian clients and are working for no Canadian companies.
5) Hard to say because the process is so new. I would count on it taking more than four months.
6) Unlikely unless you have an open work permit. Without an open work permit the employer will need to obtain an LMIA which they probably won´t be willing to do (too expensive and too long a wait).

1. Submit outside of Canada but visit your wife at the same time. Application will actually be processed through Ottawa CPC all forms are currently bar coded. Youy can not legally work until Landed. Probably 4-6 months if no interview called.

2. You can only do that if you submit inside Canada and that processing time is 2 years.

3. Once Landed you will not require a work permit you will receive a Social Insurance # and you can work.

4. Yes

5. About three weeks after you submit.

6. Many employ illegals like in any country but the pay is terriblew.

Most of the answers above are not accurate.

1) I know applying outland helps the process speed up, but how soon can I start working in Canada and living with my wife from the time I submit my application?

6 months to 2 years

2) Can I apply for a work visa while also applying for spousal visa?

Yes, but in your case it would be a separate application, you would have to meet the requirements to obtain a temporary work permit. As you mentioned in your last question, no experience and manual work, in most cases don´t qualify for a temporary work permit.

3) Where, how, and when can I apply for a work permit?
You download the application from the CIC website but your still require a labour market impact assessment. Your employer would have to meet this requirement.

4) Is it possible to continue working (with an online work from home company) during my immigration process while im in Canada? or is this a bad idea?

You require a work permit to do so. Otherwise you are risking your permanent resident application.

5) If I apply inland how soon can I hope to be working?
6 months to one year´ish.

6) Are there any companies that will hire Americans who have little experience in a trade. Like a manual labor worker?

American or not, it doesn´t matter. You are still a foreign national that requires a work permit in order to work in Canada. As stands based on what you are saying, you are barely eligible to enter Canada as a visitor.

If you are applying from outside of Canada, that is your best option. Make sure that your application is properly done. That would potentially save you a lot of time if you don´t have to re-do things.

I have a question (in reply to: Questions)
I am living in Canada, and I need to sponsor my wife to come to Canada. She is living now outside Canada. How much fees I need to pay to process my application. At government online payment site, they mention many fees which confuses me.
