Subject: NOC-2173 (Software engineers and designers) Query
I want to apply for Immigration to Canada - Applying as a Skilled Worker. My Degree (B.Tech) is in Electronics & Communication Engineering. My work-experience is of 4+ years as a Software Test Engineer. Am I eligible for applying under the NOC - 2173 Software engineers and designers category, as I do not possess a degree in Computers as mentioned on the Website - Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

The cap has been reached for this NOC for 2014. You can only apply for this NOC under the 2014 rules if you have a permanent job offer in Canada and an approved LMIA.

NOC-2173 (Software engineers and designers) Query (in reply to: NOC-2173 (Software engineers and designers) Query)
Yes, I am aware that the cap has been reached for this NOC for 2014. I want to apply for this same NOC in 2015 under the Express Entry. I just want to know about the eligibility criteria. Is it so that Electronics is not treated as a valid pre-requisite Degree for the 2173 NOC. B. Tech in Computers is mentioned on the Website - Human Resources and Skills Development Canada as a requirement for NOC-2173. So I am confused.

Also, please let me know what is LMIA

LMIA (in reply to: NOC-2173 (Software engineers and designers) Query)
Express Entry is a much different call it pre-screening system, there are no priority occupations to be invited to submit an application although in the short-term it will still be CIC inviting people and approving them to come to Canada and done through the structures that are in place for the FSWP although it still is somewhat unclear as yet if this or if they will also or alternatively us the 1200 point express entry criteria to invite/approve people

A LIMA is a labour market impact assessment which is a key component to the Express Entry system for employers to be able to pursue people outside Canada for their employment needs.

I have applied for NOC 2173 and my application reached CIC on 09/24/2014. It has been more than 4 months now and my application is not charged yet nor i have heard from them. I am tensed whether i made it to cap.

Has anyone sent application after the date i sent and has been charged?

Should i be optimistic that i will be through?
