Subject: The best way to bring my fiance from Philippines
I have a fiance in Philippines and I would like to bring her here to Canada so that we can live happily ever after?

I´ve heard few different options, but none of them make much sense, way too expensive and also too long (over 1 year) to wait.

Any suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Damian F.

First of all, you can´t sponsor a fiance for PR. You must either be married or common law (have lived together for at least a full year) before you can submit a sponsorship application.

Your fiance can try applying for a TRV to be allowed to visit Canada. Chances are the TRV is going to be refused. However if it is approved, this means your fiance can come to Canada as a visitor and then once you are either married or common law, you can file a sponsorship application using either the inland or outland spousal sponsorship process.

If the TRV is refused, then you will have to sponsor your fiance using the outland process (people typically wait less than a year). Again, you need to be either married or common law before you can submit the application.

Any other option would involve your fiance immigrating independently (without your assistance) as a skilled worker or provincial nominee.

They may not make sense to you. But those are your options.
