I have been told that if a Canadian male brings a foreigner to Canada and married her, he is financially responsible for her for a period of 10 years.
Could you please tell me what a man is responsible for when bringing a woman to Canada for the purpose of marraige ?

Agreed. Three years. If she goes on social assistance / welfare during these three years he will be responsible for paying this money back to the government.

It doesn´t apply just for a Canadian male as you described. If a female does the same thing, she is responsible for him for a period of 3 years as per the Sponsorship agreement.

Have enough cash on hand to help her for three years, but prepare for 18 years (just in case she picks a sperm from you or your neighbor while being with you).
