| Subject: Move to Canada with DUI (Marry Canadian Citizen) |

Hi! I am planning on marrying my girl friend (who I love and am having the best time of my life with) who is a Canadian Citizen with the possibility of moving to Canada. Here is some more information on my case:
- I work and live in Silicon Valley (Bay Area / CA / USA)
- I got my 1st DUI back in Apr 2008. (NO damage, no one was hurt). This DUI has now been expunged.
- I got my 2nd DUI back in Apr 2013 (Minor damage that has been paid off $700 only). I should have my full licence in June 2014.
My questions:
1) Can I move to Canada if I marry my girl friend sometime after June 2014?
2) Can I enter Canada on a Business Visa (I do a lot of business with Canada)?

5 Years elapse eligible for criminal rehabilitation.
10 years after conviction may be deemed rehabilitated.
DUI is considered a very serious criminal offence in Canada.
One would be more concerned with your auto insurance premium in Canada.

No, you are inadmissible at this point. You will be refused of entry.
2) Can I enter Canada on a Business Visa (I do a lot of business with Canada)?
No, again you are inadmissible at this point. You will make it as far as the airport. You best bet is to be deemed rehabilitated and apply from outside of Canada for your PR status. Plan to get married in the US instead, wait for a bit over 5 years assuming that you won´t do anything stupid again and then apply for your PR visa.

Change your plans. Canada is off the table for you until at least June 2019.
