Subject: Best place to live in Toronto for new comers
  Hi to all,

how are you?
So my question is what is the best place to live in family in or near Toronto.
i just received my Permanent Visa and i before i was planning to go to Quebec but there are less job offers than Toronto or Ottawa.
So we decided to come to Toronto but we don´t anything about this area.

I ´m Java Programmer and Technologist in electronics/electrical, which will be the best place for us to find work and in the same time to live in a nice place for children, schools, supermarket,....

Thank you
have a nice day!!! Merry christmas to all and Happy new year 2013 for all!!!!!!

Toronto is horrible,

Go somewhere else, prices are high, real estate , the most competitive city in Canada, I would have choose other province than Ontario.

Speedoflight, have you even been to Toronto, much less lived here. Yes it is competitive and expensive but it is also a wonderful dynamic multi-cultural place with more opportunities. The days when immigrants could arrive and have a job within days ended about fifty years ago but from the massive housing and condominium developments being built, there are a lot of people with a lot of good jobs here.

Quoted"Yes you are right, but its not good for new PRs"

Really?
Are you a PR who lives in Toronto to support such a thing?
Or just read it somewhere and based on that you are advising people?

Raggari,

What I tell new comers that move to big cities, is that find a temporary place to live, find a job you like and then get a permanent place close to your job so the commuting doesn´t drive you crazy over the years. Toronto for the most part is a nice city but it all depends what you preferences are.

Just avoid Vancouver the rich chinese ,taiwanese, high up the real estate like crazy by buying and not investing in any economic activity. God thanks immigration canada not giving pr based on realestate ownership , we would be paying 5k for a room with shared bathroom

Best place to live in Toronto for new comers posting (in reply to: Best place to live in Toronto for new comers)
1)please consider people who will receive u in toronto first
2) consider the # of individual migrating..alone or family altogether vs on hand available funds to support the said individual
3) remember that ur profession is not the same here in canada...be ready with any kind of job to support urself or ur family while tryiung to target ur equivalency
4)consider toronto or bigger cities with subway system and good transportation...coz this is an advantage while achieving your goal
5) smaller cities are a bit peaceful and quiet but you need a car to be mobile...being mobile is advantage in getting to your destination and goals such as work ..school for upgrading ..etc
6) if u decided to go to toronto...avoid Jane and Finch Area....Filipinos can survive there but it si compared to TONDO back home

I wish u the best in ur journey
