The problem is not re-entering Canada, the issue is if the airline you are traveling with, allows you to board the airplane with only one day left. That is between the airline and your yourself.

Well DocD you hit this one with your hammer right on the end of the nail.

PR cards are only required for foreign nationals travelling from countries that require a Canadian Visitor Visa (CVV). If an airline lets on a person without a CVV they will be required to pay for their removal (flight back).

If you leave your return to the very last day of the expiry of your PR card to return because YOUR SPECIAL the airline may refuse you because you have no respect for their situation. What happens if the plane has engine failure and lands for 12 hours to get repairs and by the time you arrive in Canada your PR card has expired.

Why should the airline pay for your removal?

Try buying a ticket or getting a Visa to enter any country with less than six months validity in your passport.

Re-entering Canada with a Passport with less than four months validity (in reply to: PR card expiring and reenter canada)
I know someone born in a Gulf State of Syrian parents. He has a Syrian passport and residency permit for the Gulf State as his whole family live there. It is essential that he return to the Gulf State very soon for a short visit to maintain the residency permit. He has been studying at university in Canada for two and a half years. His passport and visa expires in the spring and he plans to renew his Syrian passport when he returns and then extend the Canadian student visa. It would obviously have been better to renew the passport and visa first but he was worried about delays in getting anything Syrian at the moment. Does anyone think he will have problems returning to Canada. He is aware that even if Syria blows itself to bits, he is not a candidate for refugee status as long as he has residency in a safe country.
