Subject: Thieves stealing Peoples Money!
My Girl friend Sylvia Seven, was robbed by this man pretending to be an immigration officer.

Sylvia went to the immigration website for all her info.
This man contacted her & he robbed her with the promise that she will be in the Immigration Lottery of $1,500 USD.

It is widely understood that doing these type of deals on the Internet is extremely
risky. Sylvia is a very trusting person to the point of a fault.

She just likes to believe that all people should be & are of good character, because she is a sweet heart, and a optimistic lady.

By the way, I´m from the USA & Syl is a Canadian.

If there is any help out there as to how to get this guy to justice, please post a reply.
Also now his email returns as a mailer daemon, when before he used to email back

as to impersonate, with having a relationship in a friendly manner.

Thanks to anyone who will listen & help with info.
John

it is important that people do a little research before they hand over money regardless of how much or how little it is.

In Canada, there is not such thing as an Immigration Lottery so that should have been her first clue. Goggle can help you with that question.

Justice? You likely got your justice by posting on this forum to warn others to be careful.

Immigration clarification (in reply to: Thieves stealing Peoples Money!)
Hello, I am the Sylvia in ´question´.

First of all, this is about me as a Canadian citizen in attempt to enter the USA via the USA Green Card Lottery.

Yes I may be trusting but I also do my homework. The website that caused me all these problems was actually given to me by two separate U.S. Immigration Officers at the same border crossing.

I have since learned that the actual official site is ! Also, if you go through this site, you do not have to give out any money to enter the Green Card Lottery!!!

I have contacted an ombudsman to look into this matter to see if they have done this purposely for their own gains, or if it was simply an error. Ha.

I want to find out what I can so that other un-knowing Canadians will not fall for the same situation -- which to me closely resembles a scam on a very high level.

Thank you,
Sylvia.

I am obviously missing something.

Well in Ontario to cross into the USA by car the wait times are normally around at least 45 minutes to two hours wait time.

So your the cause of the long delays crossing the border?

You asking questions that are not relevant to your entry is the reason that truckers can´t get their products to their destination? In Buffalo and Detroit persons who choose to live next to the bridge are complaining about the pollution from all that truck/car exhaust because you stop and want to have tea and crumpets with the border guards?

All those cars never tooted to get you to hurry up and finish your tea and crumpets either, correct?

Scam at the highest level, sure and 9/11 never happened either.

Sylvia, if you were born in Canada, you are not even eligible for the US green card lottery.

Roy -- I have done all my contacting and question asking online or through lawyers.

Why would you go and assume that I would do that at a crossing to people in line behind me?

I see that you are part of cvimmigration.com -- this is a site for people to immigrate INTO Canada so you have things a little confused.

And let me say that I take immense offence for what you said about 9/11! I have lived in NY, NY off and on for many years and personally know of many familys´ members who lost their life that day, or were related to or knew the fire and rescue members who also lost their lives and how it is still affecting their families.

Do NOT speak lightly of such a tremendous loss and the horrible consequences that still follow to this day.

It was only yesterday that that horrible day of terror marked it´s 11th anniversary. Please have some respect here.

I had to waste all this time to try to rectify your nastiness towards me that honestly was not warranted. I´m not angry at you, I just want you to reflect on how you responded. Thank you.

To clarify, I was on my way to NY again last Aug. 2011, and this time they deemed that I was an immigration risk and advised I would now have try to gain citizenship via the Green Card Lottery or a lawyer.

Hobbes, you are right that a Canadian is not eligible. However, you are allowed to go by your parents` country of birth and what year they became Canadians. If that information falls with-in a certain `spectrum`, you may enter THEIR country of birth (which for me was a European country) and you are then eligible.

My point all along has been that two different USA Immigration Officers gave me the USAGC.org site that asks for app. $1500.00. I have since found out that it is NOT the official site -- USAGC.GOV is; and no money is requested.

And why has the USAGC.org site and my case worker become totally inaccessible to me while they had given me an account number, password to the same, and a tracking number to follow the process. All of which has now been shut down and their sites are no longer existant.

How would any of you respond to this.

Enough for now;
Sylvia.

I would respond by not complaining on a Canadian immigration site about an unscrupulous US immigration company.

you are going in the wrong direction for anyone here to care.

Hello Julia,

In the photo above of the female lawyer it stipulates that they are there to help with Canadian or U.S. Immigration matters.

I do hope people here care because I´m here to raise awareness so that no other Canadian goes the wrong way like I had been led to go, and hence loses a considerable amount of money.

I think I have done what I set out to do (awareness); but I would very much have appreciated it if some-one could have given me some ideas to help me figure out what to do with what has become a big expensive mess for me.

Thank you all for hearing my situation, sorry it bothered some of you, and good luck should you need to go through this process some-where down the road.

Sincerely;
Sylvia.
