Subject: Called by CBSA for an interview at the Airport
Has anyone been called to the interview because their refugee claim has been refused and were you offered PRRA during the interview? If you were not offered the PRRA during the interview when did they offered it to you? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you

John

The letters are fairly standard. Normally they first call you in to put you on telephone reporting and request you bring in home phone bills (if you have a home phone).

They may call you in to get you to apply for a Passport and issue you the PRRA at the same time.

If you´re going Tuesday morning I´ll be there.

How long do you think it will take to process the PRRA.

That is the type of question that can´t be answered.

Where are you from and what was your claim based on? Is there any new evidence like a person who got refused from Syria a year ago and look what is going on there now.

Hi John, I really don´t think there is any time-line for PRRA applications. I guess most baseless applications get kicked out so fast. I have my still in process since December, 2010. I know about a guy that applied in July, 2011 and got his decision already. When you call the cal center for any update ´´ We really don´t have access to PRRA applications, and there is no any delay for this type of application at this moment´´. So i guess it´s base on the supporting evidence you give to them. Just do the right thing and keep it in mind that plan B is another great weapon for you. Since you have at least two to six months, if not more. Every seconds and minutes after you sent in this application matters a lot......

What happens if you were not offered PRRA during the interview? I know someone who did not get the PRRA during the interview and have been only called to make monthly reporting. Do you think they will have to offer you the PRRA?

Hi John, regardless of PRRA or no PRRA, i frankly think time is a huge factor for you at this moment. No one can tell what the interview would be about. Do the right thing and always make sure you make your monthly reporting if that is what your interview would be about. Plan B is a vital point to keep in mind. Get a representative to represent you. Until you get to your interview, no one can tell you what the interview is about. I don´t know when the new law comes into effects. We´re the older generation of refugee that would be offered PRRA weeks after their refugee claims are denied. The new regulation state´s that ´´ You´re bared one year to PRRA and H&C until you get a decision from the IRB´´. I guess you´re going in for PRRA and to set up a passport or traveling document for you. Get a lawyer for better advice....You can speak to Roy on a private assistance or better still to retain him....
