Subject: PR Status with Expired PR Card
My PR card expired years ago and I don´t think I have a good reason for getting the renewal since I am not staying in Canada with my family. May I know if my PR status still valid or it already gone. Can you advise what is the best way to retain or re-obtain the PR status if I have lost it.

You must live in Canada two out of every five rolling years to maintain PR status. If you have not met residency obligations over the last five years, your PR card has expired and you´re not in Canada - then it´s pretty safe to assume your PR status is gone.

To obtain PR status again, you will have to apply again from scratch under one of the following immigration streams:

Thank you for your advice.

As my wife and children are canadian, does my wife require to include my income for filing her income tax return?

So your whole family applied for PR status and you decided not to become a permanent resident or comply with he residency provisions, correct?

Then your wife and kids became Canadian citizens so we have to be talking a time line of four years. I assume they came to see you every so often to maintain the marriage/relationship.

Now are you asking the income tax question because your wife is considering sponsoring you again?

I would be far more concerned how you are going to prove that you intend to be a Permanent Resident and reside in Canada permanently.
