Subject: Any Advantages for landing while pregnant
  Hi all,
We are waiting for our Landing visa, we should be getting it in the next month or so.
My wife is 3 months pregnant, and we are thinking of either landing and have the delivered in Toronto Canada , or have the baby delivered outside Canada then Add him to our application. And land all together afterwards.
1.Any advantages for having the baby in Canada ?
2. I am concerned about the cost of delivery since we might not be able to have the insurance card ready by delivery date since it takes 3 months. Wondering how much would the delivery cost without OHIP?
3. I was told that If we had the baby delivered in Canada, As parents, we can extend the PR every 5 years without having to live there until our baby reaches 18 years of age. Is this valid or not?
Any help on the above is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Guss

1. The advantage to having the baby in Canada is that your child will automatically be a Canadian citizen.
2. I would budget $10K. But it could be more if there are complications.
3. No - this isn´t true. To maintain your PR status, you will have to live in Canada 2 out of every 5 years just like everyone else. Having a citizen child will give you no benefits when it comes to retaining your PR status.
