Hi
My PR Card is expiring on 04 March 2012. When can I apply for renewal
of PR card? Now or after expiry date.I will be qualifying for citizenship application on 07 Jan 2012.I want to apply for citizenship also.I also want to change my last name as of my husband´s last name. When can I do so and do I need to do newspaper ad for change of last name?

(in reply to: PR Card expiring) Nope, you can start doing the whole thing right now if you wish.

Inland sponsorship question. (in reply to: PR Card expiring) Hi I´m wondering what would happen to someone who is being sponsored by their spouse through an inland sponsorship application, if they divorce after the approval in principle. But before becoming a permanent resident.

(in reply to: PR Card expiring) If they divorce after AIP but before becoming a permanent resident, then the applicant no longer qualifies to be sponsored as a spouse. If they proceed with the application - this is misrepresentation (i.e. lying). Misrepresentation (when discovered) is often punished with a two year ban from Canada.

(in reply to: PR Card expiring) you have to confirm your status at every stage of the application - including the day you land. The divorce does not have to be final for your status to have chanced.
The spirit of sponsorship would be compromised in your situation.
