If you pay for a service like renewing your Permanent Residency card anyone would expect prompt processing. It is an objective of the Act to have a consistent standard and prompt processing.

It does not matter if you pay $50.00 or $5 million dollars a reasonable service is something that any province can provide than why not the Federal government.

What bothers me is that the card is only really needed by citizens of countries that are not visitor visa exempt. If your a citizen of England (example) the airline can let you on the plane with a ticket no questions asked.

If your a citizen of Ukraine you can´t board the plane without a Canadian Visitor Visa or your PR card.

Now some will say become a citizen. What happens if you don´t want to does that mean the Charter of Rights and Freedoms does not cover you?

If CIC decides to investigate you before renewing your PR card they will take a minimum of 15 months.

During those 15 months even if you want to apply for citizenship your application will not be assessed.

Then after your found to have done nothing wrong by Immigration you get investigated again by Citizenship.

Now we are talking about some permanent residents who have been here for one or two decades who do everything legal and are good members o society.

Than CIC & CBSA give away a plane ticket plus $2,000.00 to every single illegal who wants to leave after either making tens of thousands legally or illegally. I wonder how fast that service will be dealt with. Will the illegals have to wait 15 months to get their money.

Whoops I forgot about those Canadian´s and Permanent Residents waiting 47 months to just be approved as a sponsor of their parents.

15 months is not acceptable but we can get you on a flight in a week with an additional 2K in your pocket.

“The Canadian taxpayers will save a lot of money by getting these people to leave right away,” said lawyer Richard Kurland. “If they don’t leave we have to pay to carry them.”

Who´s going to pay while they are still here? You?? Maybe the government should increase taxes from immigration consultants only.

Suppose Roy has a adopted brother and the adopted brother is smarter than Roy and attended college at the expense of Roy. Roy´s parent can only afford to send 1 kid to college. Wonder what will Roy feel about that when his adopted brother is successful but refuse to address his adopted parent as Mom or Dad....

What I am trying to say is there should be a difference of privileges enjoy by PR and citizen. What would you feel if your kid scholarship was given to a PR´s kid. If there is a war, PR could easily go back to their country of origin whereas the citizen has to stay and fight....

9,700 a year go underground.

So fix the problem get angry at the IRB who approve so many so all these claimants come year after year.

If 25% instead of 48% are successful each year far fewer would seek refugee status in Canada and the problem gets smaller.

One of the dumbest comment I have ever heard. Based on that analogy, then we should treat people in the country different who has any kind of disabilities, dual citizenship, if they are short, tall, fat or thin. If you don´t like immigration, or even think that immigrant should be treated different OH BOY! you live in the wrong country.

Roy,

"So fix the problem get angry at the IRB who approve so many so all these claimants come year after year"

Agree. I personally don´t think that the issue is with the law enforcement (CBSA is awesome) or even CIC.
The regulations are very clear but as any other law, it is open to interpretation and there is where the IRB plays a big factor.

I gotta go, I have a long day ahead.
