Am U.S. citizen, received landed immigrant status in ´71, McGill graduate, worked in Canada until ´74. Have social insurance card. Have been living in U.S. since ´74. Am 62; semi-retired. Want to return to Canada and live permanently. What do I need to do? Can I live anywhere-for example, live in Toronto and maybe move to Montreal or vise versa?
Thanks!

(in reply to: Landed in '71; now want to return to Canada) Nope, your status is long gone. You are no longer a Permanent Resident.
You would have to re-apply and start the process all over again.

(in reply to: Landed in '71; now want to return to Canada) What DocD said. You lost your Canadian PR status a long time ago.
If you want to live here, you would have to re-apply from scratch (assuming you can find an immigration category that you qualify under).
