Subject: Profession
Hello everybody. I am a PR since 2 years in BC and helping my brother to come here as a Skilled Worker too. I hope you could clarify a doubt we have. He has an Electrical Engineer degree (4 years), and in the new list of occupations, we could find "Electrician", so we are wondering if he can apply, do you know if the officers are going to look the duties he has been doing or they are going to look only for the NOC Code and refuse him? I really would appreciate any comment or input.

Hi Jackie,

Electrical engineers and electricians are not the same thing. The job description for the two is entirely different. If you want to make sure, check NOC code 2133 (Electrical engineers) and NOC code 7241 (Electricians). As such, your brother does not qualify for Federal skilled worker category of Canada PR.

Regards,

Sandeep Prashar.

Electriciam Category (in reply to: Profession)
Hiizzz,

Can you please tell status of your brother and advise me same on same topic. I am electrical engineer but my duties matches the disciption mentioned against category of electrician. I lead a team and have same roles and duties. Am I eligible to apply againsat electrician category???
