Please Help, does anyone knows how i can not be in trouble. I came to canada in june 1999 on a immigrant visa from los angeles. i had stated that i am an electrical engineer and had prepared a fake degree and my interwiev went smooth without the consular officer ever sensing i am not an engineer. My brother was accompaning me to the consulate and he knew about this . Now i am a citizen of canada , recently i was in trouble with the law in india and now my brother is saying he s going to report to the cic and cbsa and everyone that i am a fraudster. can anyone help that i can be deported or my citizenship be ever in trouble, i really worked so hard getting it . please help what are going to be the worst case scenario.

Isn´t family grand! LOL

Unfortunately probably not much is going to happen. Ignore the brother and the hate will go away. If he said he had already told CIC/CBSA you would have much more to worry about.

CBSA/CIC get calls and letters every single day about new immigrant ABC misrepresenting themselves. Without real quality evidence do you actually think CBSA or CIC is going to go and pull your file out of archives than do the research necessary to give you the punishment you deserve?

Worse case scenario. Well it depends.

If your degree was a relevant requirement for the officer´s decision, then you have to worry.

Let´s say that your brother makes the call then the clerk will ask him to provide some sort of evidence. If your brother is really serious about it, then he will.

After that CIC starts an investigation and things can go south from there.

The fact is that you are a lier and you are worry about it now. Maybe if you learn that there are better options than lying then you won´t be in this situation again.

Live and learn.

Out of mere curiosity, what did you do to mess up your family relationship? Indians are patient and passive, they say! I hope you did not go there, impregnate some unfortunate girl, take dowry and take off... Good luck in whatever happens.
