Subject: Fleed from home for love marriage
  Hi,

I and my girlfriend recently fleed from our country because we want to have a love marriage and our families are against us. Once they get to know where we are hiding they will try to kill both of us.

I wanted to ask if we can seek assylum in Canada, and if we can how we can request them and what proofs will be needed in order to make our claim not to be rejected.

Zeal

Thank you for your prompt reply Anonymous.

I do understand it is based on honour killing. But while we are already left our country and fleeing away door to door how to provide the evident? what it should be?
We haven´t even been officially married yet. As soon as we will be traced out, we´d be killed.

Please help, will be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

I couldn´t find any instructions how to establish the facts on the link given above. There are general information, refugee types and application pack.
How to document the facts to establish a claim, I couldn´t find it around.

But thank you anyway for your help. May be somone else can direct me towards the right direction.

Best evidence would be documentary evidence such as a report or newspaper articles.

It also depends on the country. By the way is this happened in Pakistan/India/Bangladesh or mid east???
I can give you better advise if I know the country´s name.

How to apply for asylum from outside of Canada:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/refugees/outside/index.asp

You have to provide evidence that they wants to kill you guys. If you filed any complaint against them, then get the copy of police report, get the HRC & A.I.reports about honor killing in India, get letter from family or friends that your parents are looking to kill you guys, local news paper cutting about honor killing in the past.
Go to closest UN / UNHCR office and give them written request for protection. It´s hard for sub-continent people to get Canadian refugee status abroad.

H & C: you can´t apply PR under H & C from outside of Canada.

It´ll be very hard to prove about the honor killing because this issue has been misused by Punjabi community in Canada. But keep your fingers cross!

Whatever I know I mentioned here. Wait for Roy´s response.
