Hi, good day,
Under " Who can be sponsored "-
Note : you can sponsor one relative regardless of age or relationship only if you do not have a living spouse or common-law partner, conjugal partner, a son or daughter, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece who could be sponsored as a member of the family class, and you do not have any relative who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or registered as an Indian under the Indian Act.
My situation :
- Holding Canadian permanent resident card.
- Age 52
- Divorced 1.5 years ago in Canada.
- No other relatives in Canada.
- No son or daughter, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece who could be sponsored as a member of the family class,do not have any relative who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or registered as an Indian under the Indian Act.
- Working full time ( annual income approximately $ 35K )
Question :
Am I qualify to sponsor my 24 years son outside Canada as one relative regardless of age or relationship ??
Please advise
thanks a lot

(in reply to: just want to make sure) Probably not.
he would be standard family class - no the category you are asking about.
did you listed him on your original application?

just want to make sure (in reply to: just want to make sure) Hi Sharon,
It is under Family Class : other eligible relatives,
For standard family class I think the age limit is under 22 years of age,
when we applied for Canada immigration he was over the 22 years of age already.
yes, I did included his name and did the medical exam at my original application.
thanks

(in reply to: just want to make sure) Roy would likely know more... but I am thinking yes.

(in reply to: just want to make sure) My daughter is over 22 years old. She would have to qualify on her own as a PR.
I got married to a Canadian citizen and landed and divorced in one year or two. How quick!
Now I would like to sponsor my over 22 year old daughter under the "I am a divorced man after one year provision."
How convenient!

(in reply to: just want to make sure) If you do not have son or daughter, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece who could be sponsored as a member of the family class - YES.
You will be expected to show proof that your parents, grandparents etc. are deceased. You will also be expected to provide proof of your divorce.
