How long, in average, PR application takes to process from first stage approval of H&C application? I just got my first stage approval and the letter states that it would take 12-24 months. Is it really that long?

The waiting period for the 2nd step varies from case to case.

It is varies. For me, close to 30 months. Relative of another person whom I talked to from this forum, it was only 24 months and that includes final decision(Getting PR approval).

Did you have your medical before you get the first stage approval? I apply 18 monthes ago.

^^No. CIC have yet to ask for medical. Considering how long you´ve been waiting, you would probably be asked for update on your file before they give you first stage approval.

From the f orm letter I assume your in the GTA. If your a good distance east like Whitby or Oshawa it will be quicker but it depends on your country and the background checks required.
Each case is different and you can not compare time frames unless you state your country.
Three months after initial approval go get an OHIP card.

I got my AIP back in February 2011. Done Medicals , Background checks and paid the landing fees 2 months ago.
Got my OHIP the same week I got my AIP: there is a suspension of removal for people from my country and I´ve been already when I got the AIP,so they waived the waiting time for OHIP.
Applied for OWP and find out that I had OWP all along , all these years...
My case in the GTA too...
