Subject: MWD Engineer NOC code ?? |
|
|
|
Hi all,
I am seriously thinking about applying for "Federal Skilled Worker" program. However, I am not sure about the eligibility of my occupation.
My job title is "MWD Field Engineer". I provide Measurement-While-Drilling services on the well site.
In order to be considered for immigration, my occupation should be accepted as
8222 - Supervisors, Oil and Gas Drilling and Service
However, I think that my occupation fits more closely as:
8232 - Oil and Gas Well Drillers, Servicers, Testers and Related Workers
I would like to know the following:
1)How does the visa officer determine if my job fits a certain NOC job code ? It is safe to assume that the visa officer does not have oilfield experience!
2)If anyone here is familiar with that type of job and can clarify the appropriate NOC job category ?
Many thanks !
Regards,
Ahmed

(in reply to: MWD Engineer NOC code ??) Hi Ahmed,
The main thing you should be looking for applying under the code 8222 is matching the job description posted on NOC database website. If you are fulfilling that, you can apply. Main difference between 8222 and 8232 is hiring responsibilities and critical decision making responsibilities. If it doesnt match, you cant apply.
Best luck,
Nisha
